Shame

“I was in a car full of writers once, being driven to some event, and everyone in the backseat was talking about our failures and disappointments.  The driver turned around and burst out, “You’re all so talented!  Why should you feel so much shame?” We had to laugh at ourselves.  We knew we were describing a feeling that a lot of writers have.”

  1. Wow! This was really encouraging to read. Lately, I’ve been feeling more confident about my writing. Every since I left Wattpad and moved to Writing.com, I’ve started to feel like I have some talent with writing again lol

    1. That’s really great to hear that you’re feeling more confident with your writing. Like they say – location, location, location 🙂

I’ve been fortunate with Wattpad when I was starting out, but since they’ve focused more on their Stars program and partnering with studios, it’s more lucrative for the really popular writers than anyone else. And at the end of the day, you can’t pay your rent with likes and votes.

      1. So true! I think if I started there in 2011 or 2012, it wouldn’t have been so bad. By around 2014 – 2015, I noticed they were putting more focus on popular writers and less on helping new writers.

      2. I think you’re right. I started there in 2012 and so I kinda got on the tail end of things back when they were more focused on stories more than the personalities. But I also believe that everything happens for a reason. Writing.com gives you what you need and that’s the most important thing 🙂
